Choeur mixte St-André
Description
Founded at the beginning of the last century, our church choir was initially a men's choir. At the time, tradition and customs entrusted lecterns only to male parishioners. It took nearly fifty years to hear a mixed group sing on the platform of the church of Onnens. The St-André choir has adapted its activities and its function to the evolution of parish and community life. Its primary goal is still to ensure quality choral entertainment at Sunday services (twice a month), paying particular attention to the solemn feasts that punctuate the liturgical year.
With the change in the intensity of religious practice, our choir has also set itself the task of maintaining, in collaboration with other local groups, a lively and friendly community life. Its ranks are open to experienced singers, as well as to pure amateurs who wish to try their hand at choral singing by discovering a chosen repertoire, whether religious or secular. The personal convictions of each member are scrupulously respected, in the spirit of creating an atmosphere of encounter and the pursuit of quality. Over the past few decades, the St. Andrew Choir has had the privilege of working under the direction of competent conductors. The choir has developed a very convincing repertoire. We rehearse every Tuesday evening from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in Onnens.
