Description

The "Chœur St-Pierre-aux-Liens" of the parish of Bulle is a large liturgical vocal ensemble, comprising the liturgical choir, the concert group, as well as the Choir, made up of around forty children. The choir primarily provides musical entertainment for liturgies and festive masses at Christmas and Easter. At the same time, it presents various concerts a cappella or with instrumental accompaniment. The choir expresses itself through a varied repertoire. It performs Gregorian chant pieces, compositions from the Renaissance, or from the Classical, Romantic and contemporary periods. In association with various choirs in the region, the choristers had the pleasure of performing Carl Orff's Carmina Burana in March 2009, as well as the main arias from Bizet's opera Carmen in March 2011, thanks to the Corps de Musique de la Ville de Bulle. In October 2012, the choir gave a concert of Gloria and various pieces by Vivaldi. In 2013, the Choir participated in the anniversary concert for Lionel Chappuis' 20th anniversary as head of the Bulle Accordionists' Club: the two groups notably performed the Polovtsian Dances from Prince Igor, a piece composed by Alexander Borodin. In 2016, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the reconstruction of the church of Bulle, the choir performed, among other things, Les Sept dernière paroles du Christ en Croix by César Franck.
